Witney Lions Club was established in 1969 and is a part of the largest completely voluntary Service Organisation in the world, Lions Clubs International. There are 45,000 clubs in 192 countries with 1.4million members, of which 944 clubs and 20,000 members are in the U.K. and Ireland.
Each Club is independent as to how it is run and how funds are raised and distributed to whatever needy cause or person they feel they should support. The vast majority of funds Witney Lions raise are from events such as the Carnival and our Christmas street collections, these are distributed within the local community and surrounding areas. Witney Lions currently has 25 members and would like more. There are no restrictions to becoming a member, all that is required is a commitment to be prepared to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
We meet on the second Monday of every month and guests are welcome to attend, just advise us that you intend coming. The (short) meetings are quite informal and we not only socialise after them but also have a very active Social Events Calendar.
