Witney Feast

On Saturday 10th September, a hardy bunch of 14 (Lions, their ladies and one dog) set out on the Club's annual ramble in West Oxfordshire's lovely countryside. This year the circular route took us from Begbroke to Bladon and back (approx. 5 miles), and took in pleasant field and wooded country along the way.

In Bladon we were able to pause in the churchyard at the grave of Winston Churchill, and also at the White House pub for welcome refreshment. On the way home we had to contend with a shower of rain, but it didn't amount to much and we were all dry again by the time we fetched up at the Royal Sun public house for a delicious spot of lunch.

Altogether a very pleasant way to spend a September Saturday morning, and we look forward to another one next year.

Ladies Celebration Dinner

On 25th October, a party of Lions, their ladies and guests took over the restaurant at the "Lamb & Flag" at Southmoor in order to enjoy this fixture in the Lions Club social calendar.

All Witney Lions appreciate the great support they receive from their "better halves" throughout each Lionistic year, and this event gives an opportunity to demonstrate that fact.

A delicious meal was enjoyed by all, President John expressed members appreciation in a witty speech, and entertainment was provided by a talented Jazz quintet, "The Rascals of Rhythm".
